What causes Estrogen Dominance

Xeno-Oestrogens are chemicals present in our environment that mimic oestrogen in the body. They are far stronger acting in the body having 15 – 50 times the potency of natural oestrogens. The addition of this unwanted, cumulative, synthetic steroidal hormone is believed to have dire consequences within our bodies, which directly interferes with the normal function of our Endocrine System. Our body is fooled into thinking it is real estrogen and acts as if there is an estrogen excess in the system creating major hormone havoc.

Some main symptoms of Oestrogen Dominance are:

Anxiety and panic attacks

Breast tenderness/ Fibrocystic breasts

Cancer of breasts/ uterus

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Cravings/ Eating disorders

Depression / Post-natal depression

Emotional mood swings and aggressive outbursts

Fibroids

Hair loss

Hot flushes/ Night sweats

Hypoglycaemia

Infertility

Water retention

Low self esteem/ low confidence

Migraines

Miscarriages

Menopause

Obsessive behaviour

Over weight

PCO (Poly cystic ovaries)

Pre-menstrual syndrome

Period and ovulation cramps

Self mutilation

Skin disorders

Vaginal thinning

Insomnia

Irritability

Oestrogen and Progesterone need to be in balance with each other for the reproductive system to stay healthy. If oestrogen levels get to high, oestrogen dominance occurs in the body.
